Gregor Riddell plays the cello and writes music. Original projects include BirdWorld, Tre Voci and KGB, having also been a founder member of Solstice String Quartet, Living Room in London and Odysseus Piano Trio.
Recent commissions include Doe-eyed, Clean-cut for Duo TÖ, Latent, Paper Tiger for solo violin and electronics performed and recorded by Galya Bisengalieva, Hiraeth for Asamisimasa Ensemble at Borealis Festival (Norway), a double cello concerto premiered in La Paz (Bolivia) and a work for cello and electronics written for the BEAST sound system at Birmingham University. Gregor has also written for the London Contemporary Orchestra with whom he is a regular principle player having collaborated with artists including Radiohead, Qasim Naqvi, Sarah Davachi, Actress, Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch, among many others.
Since living in Norway he has performed with artists and ensembles including Mette Henriette, Frøy Aagre, Hildur Guðnadóttir, JAR, Ola Kvernberg, 1816, Neon and Cikada Ensembles; recorded chamber works by Simon Steen-Andersen with the Oslo Sinfonietta; and, alongside Rob Lewis, created SVS.
BirdWorld will release their debut album UNDA on Focused Silence on the 2019 autumn Equinox accompanied by a UK tour.
Gregor lives both in London and Oslo.
